Micro- and nanotechnology allows radically new products which change our everyday lives to be developed. With the help of this technology, the functions of existing products will be improved considerable.

As examples from bionics show (e.g. the lotus effect), the surface as a functional element in particular is of great importance - an aspect which has already been successfully applied to everyday products. In classical branches of industry as well, such as the automotive industry, the use of innovative processing methods in the micro and nanosector for the production of effective function specific surfaces is a key technology in the improvement of performance and in the reduction of abrasion and energy consumption.

Quantitative and process-integrated analysis is a basic requirement if these modern process methods are to be managed reliably – both in the initial development phases and in production. At an early stage, NanoFocus AG recognised the importance of optical 3D measurement technology for quantitative and laminar analysis of micro and nanostructures, in particular for function-specific surfaces and translated it into innovative products. NanoFocus will continue to shape these new technologies in future, will set standards and will grow.
